Meet the Lakes Christian Centre Leadership Team
Hi, I'm Mike Horsman, Pastor of Lakes Christian Centre since 2001. I am a true local Windermere guy and have been involved with this Church, in various roles, since 1984. I became a Christian in 1983 when God broke into my life during an evangelistic mission in Manchester. My wife, Lynda, and I have two wonderful children, Beth married to Andy, and Josh a student in Glasgow. I am looking forward to increased opportunities for our Church to reach out to the local community in a dynamic and relevant way. My desire is that we will share the love and joy of the Lord Jesus Christ with those who pass through our doors.
My name's Paul Bell and I'm Assistant Pastor. I’m married to a wonderful girl called Mel, and God has blessed us with two amazing sons. While my role in the church is to assist Mike in caring for the people, I am employed full-time as a Maintenance Manager in a large hotel. I’m not a dyed-in-wool ‘local’ but a Yorkshire-man who moved to the Lake District. After my time in the RAF I came to Windermere because I was into white-water kayaking and I remember being so deeply struck by the beauty of the Lakes, that I said “Lord, can you can find a way for me to come and live up here, and can you give me a Church to be part of, because I can’t have one without the other”, and the rest as they say is history.
Hello, I'm Simon Berry. I first served as a Deacon at Lakes Christian Centre and then became an Elder in the early 90s. For two years I took on the role of Pastor. As well as being an Elder, I also serve as the Chair of the European Board of the Luis Palau Evangelistic Association. I became a Christian in New Zealand whilst travelling with my wife Diana when God broke into our lives in a powerful and miraculous way. Alongside my Church responsibilities, I run the family hotel business, English Lakes Hotels, with my brother Tim. Diana and I live in Troutbeck. We have 3 sons, Robert married to Lisa, Ben a local councillor and Elliot married to Metrine who both live in Kenya.
Hi, I’m Ian Woods. I came to Lakes Christian Centre in 1992 after a trip to Siberia. I became a Christian in July 1985 after hearing the simple and stunning Gospel message for the first time – Bang! – Talk about life changing. I’m married to Nicky and we have five great kids and no money. I spent 12 years as an Engineer in the military, 10 years as an Olympian, 10 years as a TeamGB coach and 10 years as a pioneer church planter – pastoring in West Cumbria and South West Scotland. I’m now a consultant trainer specialising in people, change and trust. I’m a part time sports pundit and commentator for Eurosport and a lover of the mountains, Nordic skiing and open water swimming.
Hi, I’m Jonathan Bowyer. I’ve been a part of Lakes Christian Centre since 1989 and joined the leadership team in 2012. I was brought up in Manchester where my Dad was a C. of E. Minister. I came to live in the Lakes in my mid-twenties after three years working in the oil industry in Egypt. I had a second career in Outdoor Education and since 2001 I’ve been self employed as a leadership coach, facilitator and trainer. I’m married to Kathryn and we have two sons, Rob and Will, who ensure we don’t take ourselves too seriously! I enjoy walking in the mountains, going for a sail or spending an evening fly-fishing. I enjoy being part of the worship team, preaching on a regular basis, and I’m passionate about exploring the Bible.
