"What do you want me to do for you?" Jesus asked him. The blind man said, "Rabbi, I want to see."
The end of an old year, the beginning of a new one. It’s at this time of year that many people will look back on the last twelve months and ponder over what has happened in that time.
It could be a year that has filled you with great joy, great sadness, or indeed a bit of both.
When I look back over 2016, I tend to think mostly of the times I have felt my Heavenly Father close to me, and there have been many. At the grave of a loved one, reading the last chapters of Revelation on Easter Sunday morning, praying that people would be healed, speaking the truth into the lives of people on a Sunday morning, spending wonderful moments with family and friends. At all those times and many more, I have felt Jesus close at hand.
And yet, there is much more that Jesus has in store for me and indeed the church family here at Lakes Christian Centre.
When Bartimaeus heard that Jesus was walking by, he knew he had his chance. He shouted out to Jesus, and a few seconds later he was standing in front of the Messiah asking Him for life changing healing. ‘I want to see!!!’
What is it you want from Jesus in 2017? What is it you want Him to do for you? If you could ask anything of Him what would it be?
For me, it’s a little bit like Bartimaeus, I want to see!!
I want to see people come to an abundance of life in Jesus Christ.
I want to see people cast off the shackles of darkness that have been placed on them so they can walk with the one who proclaimed ‘I am the Light of the World.’
I want to see us going out and serving our community by praying for them and loving them, by being Jesus to them.
I want to see people healed in the precious name that is above all others, Jesus.
I want to see people know that there is an adversary out there trying to steal, kill and destroy, and that with Jesus by their side, they will be overcomers in His name.
I want to see the family of Lakes Christian Centre unified as one going forward, standing for Jesus in our everyday lives.
I want to see us proclaiming Jesus to a lost and hurt world. Telling them that Jesus is the way, the truth and the life.
I’m sure each and every one of you can add to the list, something that you want to see. Then ask it, and see what the Lord Jesus can do.
God Bless You
