Jeremiah 29.11 says "For I know the plans I have for you" declares the Lord, "plans to prosper you and not to harm you, plans to give you hope and a future".
A New Year brings all sorts of thoughts into our minds. The world says to make New Year’s resolutions; I will be more careful with my money, I will eat less food, I will change this or that about the way I live... and yet within weeks the world is back on the same old treadmill. As Christians, I believe that it should be different for us. We look at what’s happened the year before and how the Lord has maybe used us in a certain way or a certain ministry and we can look forward to him using us in an even greater way. He knows the plans He has for us and those plans might be different to our own plans, but they are the Lord’s plans for our lives and I believe that we need to go along with what He has lined up for us.
It is good to look back on what the Lord has done in the life of the church over 2014 but 2015 is a new year and I believe He has great things in store for His church here in Windermere. He has plans that will not only give us a hope and a future but will give our village and the people who live in it a hope and a future also. I mention it every year that ‘the fields are white unto harvest’ and this hasn’t changed. People young and old, rich and poor, need to be hearing the gospel of our Lord Jesus Christ.
The Lord put these words on my heart this morning, they are from Isaiah 62.4 ‘You shall no more be termed Forsaken, and your land shall no more be termed Desolate, but you shall be called My Delight Is In Her, and your land Married’. There are many people in our community who don’t seem to have a hope and a future but feel forsaken and we need to tell them that the Lord Delights In Them. This is our duty as men and women of God. So let this year be a year of new beginnings for our church and for the community in which we serve. God bless you. Mike.
