What We Believe

As we start 2018, I'd like to share with you a word of encouragement from our Assistant Pastor, Paul Bell:

'I'd like to take this opportunity to wish you a God-blessed, Christ-exalting and Holy Spirit empowered 2018. As I sit here at my laptop on a cold winter morning drinking my Yorkshire Tea and preparing to go to work, I'm considering the question, "Does it matter what we believe?" Does it matter what we believe about God? Does it matter what we believe about our Lord Jesus Christ? Does it matter what we believe about the Holy Spirit and about the Bible, salvation, eternal life and the church? Does it matter?

As I sit here pondering these deep deep truths of our shared faith, my heart cries out, "Yes! Yes it does matter". It matters enormously. It's a matter of life and death to you and to me and the to whole world; because Jesus himself said, "if you abide in my Word, you are truly my disciples, and you will know the truth and the truth will set you free". Truth is all about liberation, truth is all about Christ's Word & Christ's life flowing through our lives. Truth is all about Him. To be truly free, we must live in His Word 24/7 and know Him and worship Him intimately.

During these past months, the Elders have been revisiting, re-appraising and refining our Statement of Faith; those essential Christian truths that we believe and hold as precious. It's to this end that the Elders welcome you to join with us as we start this New Year in consideration and affirmation of seven basic tenets of our faith. Seven deep truths that underpin Lakes Christain Centre and knit our lives together in Christ and that, by affirming these truths, we may all find ourselves embracing more fully the 'Living Truth’ which is our Lord Jesus Christ himself.

I pray that all of us will experience the grace of God upon our lives in a very new & powerful way as, together, we abide in Christ's Word and affirm the essential truths of our shared life of faith. As for me, my cup of Yorshire Tea is empty and work beckons.

God bless,
Paul'
