Psalm 3:3 says But thou, O Lord, art a shield for me; my glory, and the lifter up of mine head.
I keep coming back to this verse many times over my Christian walk, I think it gives me comfort when maybe I'm going through hard times, I can certainly say it has encouraged me when the going got tough. To know that the Lord of lords, King of kings, the Great I Am is my shield is just wonderful to know. In Genesis the Lord says to Abraham, not to fear for 'I am your shield'. And that is true for all believers today, 'Fear not for I am your shield!' That is what Our Heavenly Father is saying to you today, whatever you might be struggling with, whether it is illness, financial problems, family problems. Gods word comes through loud and strong ' I am your shield.' He is not going anywhere, He is with you today, tomorrow, next week, next month, next year. Deuteronomy 31:6 says ........for the LORD your God goes with you; he will never leave you nor forsake you. That's just amazing that Our Father is that interested in you that He will always be there when you need Him.
I also love how the Psalmist continues by saying that not only is He a shield for me but that He is my glory and the lifter of my head! I have a picture whenever I read those words, it is of Jesus reaching to my downcast head and gently lifting it up so I can look straight into His eyes and as He does this I know things are going to be ok!
The old song says:
Turn your eyes upon Jesus
Look full in His wonderful face
And the things of earth will grow strangely dim
In the light of His glory and grace
Maybe this is too simplistic what I am saying, and maybe it just helps me as I meditate on this verse, but it's good to share how things have helped us in our own spiritual walks and my prayer is that these few words will help you as you read them.
God bless you and give you peace.
