Looking Ahead

Philippians 3.13-14: 'But one thing I do: Forgetting what is behind and straining toward what is ahead, I press on toward the goal to win the prize for which God has called me heavenward in Christ Jesus.'

How was 2015 for you? For me personally it was a great year. In April I walked my beautiful daughter Beth down the aisle as she married her 'Mr Wright'! In October, Lynda and I celebrated our 30th wedding anniversary, how time flies. It was great to see our son Josh grow in the Lord as he continues his life at university in Glasgow. It is also great to see how the Lord continues to bless the family at LCC. It was also a year that was somewhat bittersweet, as great and loyal friends left the Lake District to pastures new. We miss them but we know that this is the Lord's will for their lives.

But how was 2015 for you? It might have been great, just ok, or a year you're glad to see the back of. However 2015 has been, it is now very much in the past and whether good or not so good, 2016 is upon us.

In his letter to the Philippians, the Apostle Paul is basically saying forget what's in the past, it's the future that matters. 2015 was good, but 2016 can be even better as we walk hand in hand with Jesus.

My heart for LCC is that we press on towards the goal which God has called us to. There are still many people in our community who do not know Jesus as their own personal Saviour, they need to know, we need to tell them, this is what we are called to do by Jesus in Matthew 28.19.

I'm excited about a great opportunity we have this coming Easter to share the gospel with the community and holidaymakers. For a few years now we have been praying about a Bible Read Through where we read out loud the Bible from Genesis to Revelation. I believe the time is right for this to go ahead and so my prayer is that the church community in Windermere and Bowness plus the greater community will rise to this, and from Thursday to Easter Sunday (72 hours non stop) the Word of God will be read into our community. The light piercing the darkness, this is something that has not been done for many years in Windermere and I think that as the Word is read, as the doors are opened, then we will see people being set free.

Great things have happened and I believe greater things are to come!

God Bless, Pastor Mike
