Dynamic Prayers

Our Church prayer text chain is well established and well used. Whenever someone is battling an illness, taken into hospital or facing a family trauma the request goes out and they are lifted up in prayer. I often marvel at the wonders of modern technology which means that the request can quickly travel around Windermere, the UK and even to other places in the world – wherever our Church family members happen to be – and many are mobilised to pray in the time it takes for a text message to arrive at their phone.

You are the Christ

Matthew 16:15-17 records a conversation between Peter and Jesus: "He said to them, “But who do you say that I am?” Simon Peter answered and said, “You are the Christ, the Son of the living God.” Jesus answered and said to him, “Blessed are you, Simon Bar-Jonah, for flesh and blood has not revealed this to you, but My Father who is in heaven".

The Servant King

Do nothing out of selfish ambition or vain conceit. Rather, in humility value others above yourselves, not looking to your own interests but each of you to the interests of the others.

In your relationships with one another, have the same mindset as Christ Jesus: who, being in very nature God, did not consider equality with God something to be used to his own advantage; rather, he made himself nothing by taking the very nature of a servant, being made in human likeness. And being found in appearance as a man, he humbled himself by becoming obedient to death— even death on a cross! Philippians 2:3-8

Our Testimony

In 2 Timothy 4:7 Paul says 'I have fought a good fight, I have finished my course, I have kept the faith' - what a great testimony! Could this be said of us? I don't know but it excites me to think that these words could be said as the testimony of our life on earth. We are all evangelists in our own right. It might not be thousands of people that we talk to but there are people in our every day walk who we come into contact with weekly.

Expect A Miracle

2011 was a great year. But you know, 2012 can be even greater! The Olympics are coming to London, ‘The Greatest Show On Earth’. Athletes and people from all over the world will come to this country and will be a part of all the razzamatazz that only an Olympic Games can bring. ‘Faster, Higher, Stronger’ is the Olympic Motto, and athletes will be striving to do that over 16 days in July and August next year. We will see newspaper headlines screaming ‘Miraculous!’ as some athlete or other breaks a world record for the 100m or lifts twice his body weight in the weight lifting or does a dive that includes 4 backwards somersaults.
