Expect A Miracle
2011 was a great year. But you know, 2012 can be even greater! The Olympics are coming to London, ‘The Greatest Show On Earth’. Athletes and people from all over the world will come to this country and will be a part of all the razzamatazz that only an Olympic Games can bring. ‘Faster, Higher, Stronger’ is the Olympic Motto, and athletes will be striving to do that over 16 days in July and August next year. We will see newspaper headlines screaming ‘Miraculous!’ as some athlete or other breaks a world record for the 100m or lifts twice his body weight in the weight lifting or does a dive that includes 4 backwards somersaults.
But its not really miraculous, its not a miracle that someone has run the fastest 100m in history or done the perfect dive, they have just been practicing, practicing and practicing again for that moment in time and it all came right on the night.
What is miraculous is how God came to this earth as a baby born in a manger in Bethlehem. What is miraculous is that same child grew up to be the greatest person who ever lived. Performing miracles so that people were set free from the grip of Satan, people were healed from leprosy and blindness and people were brought back to life. What is miraculous is that this same Jesus was put on a cross and died to take away yours and my sin and yet rose again so that we might have life eternal. What is miraculous is that He then sent His Holy Spirit to earth so that we can also do miraculous things in His name.
I hope that in 2012 you are expecting the Lord Jesus Christ by His Holy Spirit to do a miracle in your life and the life of your family. The song says ‘He Has Done Great Things’, and He has and He will continue to do so. Pray for the miraculous to happen and by Gods grace and in His perfect time it will.
