Youth at Lakes Christian Centre
Hi we are the Bassetts -
Graham: a youth worker, employed at a strategic level by Cumbria County Council during the week and also a member of the vital and valiant team of deacons at Lakes Christian Centre.
Jacqui: an arty teaching assistant, specializing in work with dyslexic children.
We have lived in Windermere for 17 years and have two children - Hana (also arty) who is on her way to an exciting career in nursing and Jonathan who plays keyboard in the Church youth band ‘Rooted'.
Youth
"Rooted is a band of young people, gifted and excited to
praise God through contemporary music. We are part of
the LCC youth, and play gigs of rocky worship at local
churches and other venues."
Teenagers! You can't live with them and you can't live without them. Have you noticed how we melt at the sight of little children and babies? Picture a cute little tiny tot and let the warm gooey feeling build up in your chest. Joy untold!
Well, odd though it may seem, we get the same warm gooey feeling when we look at our youth. We believe that the Lord has given us a Godly love for these emerging adults. They are noisy, challenging, confrontational, uncomfortable, on the rails, off the rails, sometimes smelly and always lively! But God's love looks past all the 'stuff' that comes with them and, by His grace, so does ours. Just as it's a privilege to nurture little ones into growing up before the Lord, so we feel privileged to play a part in the many, major and minor, fledgling flights of these amazing young teenage creatures.
